Bookish

IOD Mould | 6” x 10”

Bookish features a collection of classic book spines with ornate detailing, designed for building book stacks and adding a smidge of literary brilliance to your décor. Each spine is cast as a separate element, giving you the flexibility to customize your book stack.

Use it to create faux libraries, bookends, wall art, and other book-inspired pieces. The individual spines can be adjusted in height by adding or subtracting space, allowing for more variation and a natural stacked look. These designs can also be applied directly to existing book spines and journals for added detail and character. Pair it with The Connoisseur’s Library Stamp set to decorate the spines with titles, labels, and ornamental elements to make your own personalized library.

Cadré

IOD Mould | 6” x 10”

Cadré—meaning “frame”—features ornate, baroque-inspired frame elements designed for building decorative frames and embellishments. The collection includes intricate scrollwork and framing components that bring a classic European look to your projects. It even has two sweet facing cherub elements.

Designed to fit seamlessly with our wood blanks, especially our oval and arched wood blanks, these elements can be used to create gorgeous mirror toppers, furniture accents, and decorative wall art.

Frames Three

IOD Mould | 6” x 10”

Frames Three is a collection of pillowed frames inspired by vintage tiny frames, with ornate, baroque-style detailing. Each frame features a smooth center, creating a ready surface for stamping, paint inlays, or transfers.

Ideal for small-scale projects, these frames can be used to showcase photos, resin, miniature paintings, or dried florals, and also work beautifully as handmade brooches or finishing details on furniture and décor. Try pairing them with smaller florals from the Belgravia Transfer or bits from other transfers and inlays. Finished in gold with a bit of glaze in the details for a classic look. Sized to coordinate with elements from the Dessins de Broderie Stamp set, it’s easy to create personalized pieces.

Swans

IOD Mould | 6” x 10”

Swans features large, detailed swan motifs with graceful movement, designed so they can be used individually in facing designs or back to back. Inspired by classic imagery often seen in historical European design, the swans bring a romantic, decorative element to your work.

Well suited as a focal point, they work beautifully on furniture, vessels, wood blocks, decorative signs, and bookends. This set is especially fitting for meaningful projects like nursery décor, wedding signage, ornaments, and keepsakes. It also includes two crown elements that pair naturally with the swans or can be used across other projects.

Use with our IOD Air Dry Clay, which was formulated to work with all of our IOD Moulds, or Amazing Casting Resin by Alumilite, which offers a near perfect cosmetic casting.

Food safe. The IOD Moulds are made from food safe materials (do not use the same set for food and crafts) and can be used to transform and create baked goods, furniture, soaps, jewelry, and just about anything you can think up in that creative brain of yours.

Different Mediums. IOD Moulds can be used with many different mediums. We will cover the two most common here. Every medium has its own characteristics, challenges, and virtues.

Air dry clay, or paper clay: IOD Air Dry Clay is an air-dry medium, and one of our favorites. Like most paper pulp-based air-dry clays, some shrinking, warping, and cracking is inherent. We like these qualities for a distressed, authentically vintage look. Our favorite way to apply moulded pieces is to remove them from the mould while still moist and adhere to the surface with the appropriate glue so it conforms well. For vertical surfaces, use a piece of low tack tape to hold it in place so it doesn’t slide.

Casting resins: There are some great pourable resins available, like Amazing Casting Resin. These have completely different qualities than the IOD Air Dry Clay. There is no shrinking or warping, and the castings are more consistent. Depending on the project, these qualities can be helpful. If you need to conform them to a curved surface, this can be done if removed from the mould before it’s completely hardened.

On releases: We find that most of the time a release is not necessary, and the casting will come out without the use of a release, however, if you are having trouble with the material sticking (more common with clays than resins), a light dusting of simple cornstarch or arrowroot is a great choice.
